SANTOSH GADDAM

Candidate for Ward 3 Local Councillor | Ajax

Your Neighbour. Your Voice. Ready to Serve.

I am your neighbour, a Young father of two children, a Bachelor of Technology graduate, and a Centennial College graduate with 13 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer.

Over the past four months of campaigning, I have:

  • Walked approximately 600 kilometres across our community.

  • Knocked on nearly 12,000 doors.

  • Had hundreds of meaningful conversations with residents.

  • Listened firsthand to the challenges, concerns, and aspirations of Ajax families.

These conversations have given me a deeper understanding of what truly matters to our community. I believe effective leadership begins with listening, continues with accountability, and delivers meaningful action.

I am ready to bring your voice to the Council table and serve Ward 3 with dedication, transparency, and commitment.

MY COMMITMENT TO WARD 3

1. AFFORDABILITY

 Keeping Ajax Affordable for Everyone

  • Two-Year Property Tax Freeze: Advocate for a two-year property tax freeze to ease the financial burden on homeowners facing rising living costs.

  • Transparent Property Tax Bills: Push for itemized property tax statements that clearly explain where residents' hard-earned tax dollars are being spent.

  • Eviction Prevention: Support initiatives that help tenants and vulnerable families remain in their homes.

2. ACCOUNTABILITY

Every Tax Dollar Matters

  • Responsible Spending: Prioritize essential infrastructure and community services while reducing unnecessary municipal expenditures.

  • Sustainable Growth: Ensure new developments are supported by adequate roads, utilities, emergency services, and community infrastructure.

  • Transparent Public Town Halls: Host regular, open town hall meetings where residents can raise concerns, ask questions, and receive updates on Council decisions and public spending.

  • Compassionate Homelessness Solutions: Collaborate with Durham Region and community organizations to pursue practical solutions, including temporary housing, rehabilitation support, and pathways to employment.

3. ACCESSIBILITY

Essential Services Within Reach

  • More Childcare Options: Advocate for additional daycare centres to support working parents and growing families.

  • Better Senior Care: Work with regional and provincial partners to improve access to seniors' housing and long-term care, ensuring Ajax residents' needs are represented.

  • Accessible Leadership: Be a responsive and approachable councillor who listens, follows up, and remains connected with residents throughout the term.

4. SAFER ROADS & STRONGER INFRASTRUCTURE

 Safer, Cleaner, and Better-Connected Neighbourhoods

  • Better Road Maintenance: Prioritize pothole repairs, cleaner streets, and improved stormwater drainage to reduce preventable flooding.

  • Safer Neighbourhoods: Advocate for brighter street lighting, speed-monitoring displays, and appropriate traffic-calming measures, including speed humps.

  • Improved GO Station Access: Advocate for dedicated traffic lanes where feasible and better road access for Ajax GO Station commuters to reduce peak-hour congestion.

  • Stronger Emergency Services: Support responsible, long-term infrastructure investment in emergency services and public safety.

5. YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES

 Investing in Our Future

  • Career Guidance Programs: Organize summer and fall educational and career-guidance initiatives to help young people explore future opportunities.

  • Youth Job Fairs: Support local job fairs connecting students and young professionals with employers, mentors, and career opportunities.

  • Community Partnerships: Strengthen connections between students, educational institutions, local businesses, and community organizations.

6. REVITALIZING DOWNTOWN AJAX

 Supporting Local Businesses & Entrepreneurs

  • Restore Downtown Pride: Advocate for cleaner, safer, and better-maintained business plazas and public spaces to make Downtown Ajax a welcoming destination for residents and visitors.

  • Cut Unnecessary Red Tape: Streamline business permits and building approvals to reduce delays, attract new entrepreneurs, and encourage investment while maintaining essential safety standards.

  • Support Local Businesses: Help small businesses and startups establish, grow, and thrive by working with local entrepreneurs and property owners to build a vibrant, welcoming Downtown Ajax.

I HAVE LISTENED. I AM READY TO ACT.

I am here to bring residents' voices to the Council table, ask the right questions, demand accountability, and work toward practical solutions.

After walking 600 kilometres, knocking on nearly 12,000 doors, and having hundreds of conversations, one thing is clear: Our residents deserve leadership that listens, remains accessible, and takes action.

I need your support to turn these priorities into meaningful progress for our community.

Together, let's build a safer, more affordable, and stronger Ajax.
